  • Enrichment

Three words sum up our enrichment programme: creativity, activity and service. Beyond your studies, we offer numerous enrichment opportunities to broaden horizons, bring challenge, develop character and have fun.
    Creativity

The Sixth Form Centre seeks to foster students’ creativity through the curriculum, our enrichment programme and extracurricular activities. A small portion of these opportunities include a range of music groups, such as the highly accomplished choir Rhapsodie, as well as our annual theatrical shows, recently including performances such as Little Shop of Horrors and Agatha Christie's 'And then there were none'. We are proud of our students’ work and dedicate evenings to celebrating this, such as our annual Golden Gregson’s Media & Film Studies Awards Ceremony. Valuing students’ creativity and developing their confidence and talent allows students to be innovative and step outside their comfort zones.

    Activity

From weekly fitness lessons as part of the enrichment programme to the Sixth Form Olympics or Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, activity is a hugely important part of Sixth Form life. Whether taking part in yoga, zumba or ultimate Frisbee or joining the netball or basketball team or the First XI Football, the range of activity-based options in Sixth Form presents something for everyone.

    Service

Community and citizenship are core values that students are able to embrace during their Sixth Form experience. Whether contributing to the school community as part of the Student Leadership Team, a prefect or representing Student Voice, or contributing to the wider community, attending local conferences, environmental talks or engaging in projects to support the island. We encourage students to volunteer and support in a variety of ways, such as running clubs and societies or working as reading buddies for primary school students.

    Curriculum enrichment

As well as enrichment beyond their studies, we offer a vast array of curriculum-based opportunities to help support students' super-curricular learning. These include the Psychology and Sociology crime conference, Geography,  Biology & Environmental field trips, French and Spanish trips, the Business Enterprise Challenge, UK Maths Challenge and Olympiad to name but a few. In addition, we foster positive relationships with local professionals to support within the curriculum and offer students the opportunity to see how the skills they learn in the classroom align with the world of work and university.
