    School Buses

We encourage pupils to use public transport, the schools' bus service or to cycle or walk to school to help reduce traffic around schools and on island roads in general.

    Services for September 2025

School transport provision for September 2025 has been finalised.  There will be a bus running from the Les Varendes site, Foote's Lane to the Sixth Form Centre.

    • The schools' bus service falls into two categories.

    • Buses that are contracted to operate a dedicated schools-only bus service. These are operated by both the private coach market and Stagecoach. Stagecoach also provides the island's public bus service; and

    • The public bus service. Stagecoach operate the island's public bus service on behalf of the States and provides students with a student puffinpass that enables them to travel on public bus routes to and from school (and at any other time apart from late night services). All students in full-time education are eligible to apply for a student puffinpass. Further information can be obtained from the Stagecoach website, Town bus terminus' shop (where application forms have to be submitted) or by contacting Stagecoach on Tel 700456.

The majority of the High School routes being operated now utilise "ShuttleID". This is a passenger allocation and recording system and provides the pupil with a QR code that they must scan on entering the bus service that they have been allocated. The QR code is only valid on the specific service that a student has been allocated and should they try to board a different bus in the morning, they will be refused entry. Should a student attempt to board a bus other than the one they have been allocated on their way home from school, permission to board will only be given providing all students with a valid QR code for that service have been seated first and if there remains a spare seat.

Requesting a place on a dedicated school service

To request a place for your child on a school bus, please email schoolbuses@gov.gg. Your request will be considered as to whether there is spare capacity on the service you are requesting and the distance your child lives from the school.

    Parking and Independent travel

The Sixth Form Centre has designated cycle parking for 40+ cycles and parking on-site for students who wish to use their own vehicle. To do so they must complete a permit request form providing details of the vehicle and their insurers.

    Dropping off and picking up

As we share a site with La Mare De Carteret Primary school, we ask where possible, that students are dropped off close to the site but not on site. This is the same for picking up. Full details of the Sixth Form Centre Policy can be found below.
