    Course Outline

    The Level 3 Extended Project allows learners to a topic area that extends their learning as a stand alone qualification.  The EPQ can take one of the following forms:

    • Dissertation – a theoretical written project (5000-6000 words) on any topic you are interested in presenting an argument, eg research into a biological, historical or environmental issue.

    • Investigation/Field Study – a practical investigatory project (4000-5000 words) involving the collection of data, eg a scientific investigation, a geographical study of erosion, a biological study of pollution, a statistical survey.

    • Performance – development of practical skills resulting in a performance eg performing music, drama, sport, accompanied by a 1500-3000 word report.

    • artefact – for example, making a painting or sculpture, designing a piece of furniture or a garment, creating a website, solving an engineering/construction problem, producing a piece of graphic design. This is accompanied by a 1500-3000 word report.
